About The Position

The Lead Software Developer guides a team of 3–4 developers building and maintaining internal business applications. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, including setting standards, mentoring the team, and working closely with the I.T. Supervisor to align department activity with divisional goals. This is an in-person position in Roanoke, Virginia.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and SQL Server.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with source control (Git).
• Strong communication skills, especially explaining technical details to non-technical end users and facilitating team collaboration.
• Ability to balance competing constraints and priorities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
• Experience with Blazor.
• Experience with automation, such as CI/CD.
• A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day development by planning, coordinating, and performing work; reviewing code; and maintaining timely, quality delivery standards.
• Set and maintain best practices and patterns for quality, testing, source control, security, and deployment.
• Design, build, test, and maintain applications using C#/.NET and SQL Server.
• Work directly with end users to gather requirements and create specifications.
• Advise leadership on opportunities to improve existing processes and use technology to support the business.
• Mentor the team and encourage continuous improvement and deliberate experimentation.
• Perform other duties as required.
