About The Position

The Lead Teacher – Science (Middle Schools) position is an internal role for the SY26-27 school year. This role reports to Building Principals in collaboration with District Coordinators/Directors. The ideal candidate is an experienced and licensed teacher with demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills in science. The lead teacher's classroom will serve as a model for effective instruction. Responsibilities extend beyond the regular school day/school year.

Requirements

  • Experienced and licensed teacher.
  • Demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills in the relevant content area (science).
  • Ability to upload a letter of interest to the "documents" section of the application in TalentEd.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a model classroom for effective instruction.
  • Plan and facilitate new teacher orientation sessions, professional development sessions, and PLCs.
  • Budget and order materials.
  • Gather and distribute professional and technical resource materials.
  • Organize common and standardized assessments, timelines, and testing materials.
  • Collect data and lead teacher teams in analyzing assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Support the development of common assessments and implementation of Massachusetts Frameworks.
  • Plan, facilitate, and/or participate in PLCs, faculty meetings, PD, Chelsea Professional Learning Academies, and new teacher days as needed.
  • Participate as a team member of ILT and Middle School Department PLCs.
  • Perform additional duties as determined by the principal.
