About The Position

The Lead Sales Associate helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. The role includes assisting customers with finding and purchasing merchandise, operating a cash register, stocking and recovering merchandise, cleaning the store, and performing other duties assigned by the Store Manager to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting Company assets. Lead Sales Associates perform Sales Associate duties and act as manager on duty when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is absent.

Requirements

• Proficient interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow planograms and merchandise presentation guides.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
• Ability to perform cash register functions.
• Knowledge of and willingness to comply with Company policies and procedures outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and Company communications.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to attain required food-handling certifications, if applicable for Market stores.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience, or related experience/training, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Operate a cash register and scanner; itemize and total purchases, collect payments, make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers with merchandise as needed.
• Unpack, stock, restock, and rotate merchandise, and build displays in accordance with Company merchandise processes.
• Clean the store, remove trash, dust and mop floors, clean the restroom and receiving room, and help set up sidewalk displays.
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of planograms.
• Open and close the store under the Store Manager's specific direction.
• Perform duties typically handled by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager when they are absent.
• Drive a personal vehicle to meetings, other Dollar General stores, and to make deposits.
