As a Lead Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journeys while mentoring and guiding front-line staff. In this role, you will provide direct supervision and support to clients while modeling appropriate therapeutic behavior. You will assist with daily program operations, coordinate and support Behavioral Health Technicians, and work closely with the Clinical Team to ensure safe, effective, and person-centered care. Your leadership will help ensure consistency, accountability, and a therapeutic environment that supports both clients and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field OR High School diploma or GED with two (2) years of responsible employment history
  • Successful completion of required background screenings, including criminal history, driving record, and abuse/neglect checks
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years old to operate a company-owned vehicle and 23 years old to operate a 15-passenger van
  • First Aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of hire and maintained thereafter
  • Medication Administration and Behavioral Management training in accordance with program standards
  • Completion of required annual and ongoing training hours per applicable regulations and program requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of program policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Ability to complete specialized training related to assigned program populations, including adolescent services when applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in human services or a related field preferred
  • For Residential Care Facility (RCF) programs: Level 1 Medication Aide (LIMA) credential and Insulin Certification within the first 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts, providing on-the-floor guidance and supervision
  • Support and engage clients in daily program activities, modeling appropriate therapeutic behavior and reinforcing expectations
  • Facilitate education and recreational groups, preparing or assisting with materials as needed
  • Communicate client behaviors, progress, and concerns to the treatment team in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist with staff scheduling, provide coverage for vacant shifts, and support staffing coordination efforts
  • Support medication administration by ensuring trained staff follow established medication policies and procedures
  • De-escalate crisis situations in accordance with program protocols and leadership direction
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff and facilitate Behavioral Health Technician meetings as scheduled
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation in compliance with State Regulatory and CARF standards
  • Complete Behavioral Health Technician duties as needed and conduct performance reviews for direct reports within designated timeframes
