About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Lead Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a focus on surgery to join their Animal Health Clinic in Baton Rouge, LA. This role is for a community-minded small animal practice that values credentialed technicians as clinical drivers of patient care. Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Louisiana RVT state license.
  • Experience in anesthesia & analgesia.
  • Experience in dentistry, including full-mouth dental radiography and charting.
  • Experience in diagnostics, including radiography/positioning and in-house lab analysis.
  • Experience in nursing & triage, including critical patient monitoring and managing catheters/feeding tubes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced monitoring/recovery.
  • Experience with periodontal therapy.
  • Experience with ultrasonography.

Responsibilities

  • Work to the top of your license and serve as a clinical leader, ensuring medical excellence with a patient-first mindset.
  • Utilize skills in anesthesia & analgesia, including full IV catheterization, multimodal pain management, induction, and advanced monitoring/recovery.
  • Perform dentistry procedures such as full-mouth dental radiography, charting, and periodontal therapy (per DVM direction).
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures including high-quality radiography/positioning, in-house lab analysis, and sample collection.
  • Manage critical patient monitoring, advanced wound care, and catheters/feeding tubes.
  • Lead tech appointments, team huddles, and mentor assistants/externs.
  • Participate in a predictable weekend rotation.
