Lead Project Planner and Scheduler

GE Vernova•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

Develop and maintain integrated project schedules for a large portfolio of projects, supporting project reporting and on-time delivery analysis while meeting Gas Power New Combined Cycle customer requirements, contractual obligations, and PMO processes and standards. The role centers on Primavera P6 scheduling, supply chain integration, and concurrent engineering, bridging engineering, procurement, and construction teams so schedules reflect design progress, material lead times, and field execution. The position leads baseline development and re-baselining and provides critical-path analysis to help mitigate delays before they affect contractual dates. The role receives and assesses bid schedules during ITO/OTR handovers, validates assumptions and contractual milestones, supports contract kick-off meetings, and develops L2/L3 integrated schedules. It works with sourcing, procurement, and engineering leads to align supplier lead times, manufacturing and logistics durations, purchase-order dates, and concurrent engineering workflows. The planner maintains schedules and constraints, analyzes progress and risks, coordinates multi-unit schedules, manages schedule-tool integrations, reports to stakeholders, supports delay and cost claims, and contributes lessons learned and global process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within a complex engineering or EPC environment.
  • Experience using Primavera P6.
  • Ability to challenge unrealistic durations or at-risk commitments and drive action through confidence and analytics without direct authority.
  • Ability to translate complex schedule data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership and customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in power generation and heavy industrial equipment.
  • Advanced project management certification such as PMP.
  • Scheduling certification such as PSP from AACE.

Responsibilities

  • Attend ITO/OTR handover meetings to receive L1/L2 bid equipment schedules and validate assumptions, risk registers, and contractual milestone dates.
  • Assess the feasibility of ITO schedules against engineering and supply chain constraints, identifying gaps between the proposed schedule and an executable plan.
  • Support CKOM contract kick-off meetings and track schedule-related action items through closure.
  • Develop L2 and L3 integrated project schedules in Primavera P6 according to global planning standards.
  • Integrate supplier lead times, manufacturing cycles, logistics durations, and accurate purchase-order required dates, including across multi-unit projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering leads to model concurrent engineering workflows and sequence design releases for procurement and construction handoffs.
  • Lead commitment meetings with engineering, sourcing, and project management functional owners to resolve schedule disconnects and secure agreement on the P0 baseline.
  • Update the master schedule monthly using task-owner inputs and analyze progress curves, float consumption, and Say/Do ratios.
  • Conduct critical-path analysis and recommend mitigation strategies to the Project Manager and functional leadership.
  • Manage scheduling constraints and re-baselining, maintaining reporting continuity and preserving commitment dates in shadow fields.
  • Coordinate multi-unit schedules and manage purchase-order required dates to prevent drift between units.
  • Maintain schedule-based risk registers and run what-if scenarios to assess effects on the critical path.
  • Maintain Primavera P6 as the single source of truth and manage integrations with tools such as Unifier, Pulse, WIPT, and Tableau.
  • Prepare and present schedule updates to internal leaders, functional teams, and external customers, adapting communication for non-planning audiences.
  • Support Extension of Time and cost claims through forensic or retrospective delay analysis.
  • Facilitate project close-out reports, document lessons learned, and share improvements with the Scheduling Center of Excellence.
  • Identify process disconnects between regional teams or functions and drive solutions to standardize global processes.
