Project Scheduler / Planner

Pathfinder L L C•Houston, TX
•$85,000 - $150,000

About The Position

The Project Scheduler / Planning Engineer develops and maintains reliable schedules for a data center construction program. The role identifies critical-path risks and works closely with the construction team to drive execution and schedule recovery. Projects involve aggressive schedules, multiple contractors, concurrent engineering and procurement, and complex construction and commissioning interfaces. The role goes beyond updating schedules: it requires understanding construction, challenging schedule logic, and helping teams build realistic plans to achieve critical milestones. This is a hands-on, site-engaged role in a fast-paced construction program with rapidly evolving priorities and multiple contractors working concurrently. The ideal candidate can identify what is driving the project, what is at risk, and what actions are needed to maintain or recover critical milestones.

Requirements

  • Strong scheduling background on large-scale, complex construction projects.
  • Advanced, hands-on Primavera P6 expertise; ability to work independently.
  • Experience with integrated EPC and commissioning schedules.
  • Strong CPM scheduling and critical-path analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and field constraints.
  • Experience with schedule recovery and contractor schedule management.
  • Adaptability when priorities, delivery dates, and sequences change.
  • Energy, proactivity, and technical strength.
  • Comfort working with field personnel and contractor planners.
  • Clear, constructive communication with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Commissioning, and contractors.
  • Ability to maintain schedule integrity under incomplete information.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center construction experience.
  • Experience with large-scale, complex construction projects in data centers, power generation, industrial facilities, or major infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, review, and analyze integrated construction schedules in Primavera P6.
  • Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, equipment deliveries, system turnover, commissioning, and startup into a coordinated master schedule.
  • Perform CPM analysis, including logic, float, constraints, calendars, critical and near-critical paths, and schedule risk.
  • Translate construction plans, work fronts, sequences, and contractor interfaces into realistic schedule logic.
  • Collect and validate actual progress, update schedules, evaluate deviations, and produce accurate forecasts.
  • Identify delays, evaluate mitigation options, and develop recovery and acceleration scenarios with construction teams.
  • Review and challenge contractor schedules and updates; integrate multiple contractor schedules and identify missing scope and interface conflicts.
  • Produce look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, critical-path summaries, variance analysis, and management dashboards.
  • Engage with site teams, participate in construction planning meetings, and verify reported progress against field conditions.
