About The Position

Perfetti Van Melle, a global leader in confectionery and chewing gum manufacturing, is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Lead Production Operator to join their team. This role is responsible for overseeing production lines to ensure efficient and high-quality product output, while also holding personnel accountable, coaching, developing, and training employees. The Lead Production Operator will keep the supervisor informed of work activities and employee concerns.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to work overtime hours, above your normal schedule, to meet customer’s demands.
Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)- Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Uniform, Hairnet, Beard net, and Mask when required.
Occasional exposure to dusty conditions due to the handling of bulk products. Ability to wear and use breathing protection devices as required.
Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Ability to talk, hear, and smell.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull 350-pound carts with wheels.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Employee must be flexible in learning and working in other job functions to ensure a competent, trained workforce.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver's license and ability to travel between facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversees the operation of production lines to ensure timely and efficient production of high-quality products.
Holds personnel accountable for performance.
Actively coaches and develops people, up to and including disciplinary actions.
Organizes and conducts on-the-job and formal training programs for production hourly employees.
Keeps supervisor informed of work activities and any employee issues or concerns.
