About The Position

The Product Safety & Compliance Engineer works directly within the engineering development team to ensure our products meet all global safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality certifications throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will integrate safety-by-design principles from the conceptual phase through prototyping, testing, and final market release, ensuring our products are safe, reliable, and compliant with all relevant market directives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, quality engineering, or regulatory compliance.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen.

  • In-depth familiarity with global safety and compliance standards relevant to our product sector.
  • Strong background in product testing methodologies, hardware/software validation, and engineering design documentation.
  • Ability to balance aggressive product development timelines with the strict requirements of regulatory safety.
  • Experience with international market entry requirements (e.g., EU MDR, RoHS, REACH).
  • Certification as a Regulatory Affairs Professional or specialized training in Product Safety.
  • Familiarity with cross-functional project management tools (e.g., Jira, PLM systems).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with R&D and design teams to identify safety risks during the early stages of product development and advocate for engineering controls that mitigate those risks.
  • Maintain and update a roadmap of applicable global safety standards (e.g., IEC, UL, CE, ANSI, CSA) relevant to the product line.
  • Lead the coordination of third-party product testing, certification filings, and audits (e.g., UL listings, CE marking).
  • Conduct formal Product Safety Risk Assessments, including FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Fault Tree Analysis, to validate design robustness.
  • Author and maintain technical files, Declarations of Conformity, and safety documentation required for market access and regulatory submission.
  • Assist in the analysis of field data, customer feedback, and product returns to identify potential safety trends or necessary design improvements.
