About The Position

RECONCRAFT is the leading manufacturer of purpose-built vessels for military, government, and other professional organizations. The Safety & Compliance Specialist is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all RECONCRAFT facilities. This role oversees the creation and execution of a comprehensive safety program to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies in an ISO 9001 compliant manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will foster and maintain a proactive and pragmatic safety culture aligned with RECONCRAFT’s operational objectives, balancing regulatory requirements with production realities and finding practical solutions that keep work moving safely. This is a “hands-on” position that requires active participation as a team member to build trust with the team, not simply to observe and direct. This role requires sound judgment and exceptional competence across occupational safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory management in a low-volume, high-mix marine manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of safety management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or marine/shipyard environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local environmental and safety regulations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

  • Strong attention to detail and quality deliverables
  • Expertise with the Microsoft Office software package
  • Employee must be a “U.S. Person” as defined Code of Federal Regulations, Title 22, Section 120.15

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, CFM, or CSP are a plus but not required; we value demonstrated field experience and judgment over formal credentials
  • Experience in a marine, shipyard, or composites/fiberglass manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements
  • Experience managing confined space, hot work, lockout/tagout, and crane/rigging programs
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance including stormwater/groundwater runoff monitoring and hazardous waste handling

  • Serve as primary liaison with the workers’ compensation carrier and coordinate return-to-work and modified-duty programs for injured employees
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the hazard communication program, including chemical inventory and labeling
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for facility emergencies and safety incidents
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and RECONCRAFT’s ISO 9001:2015 quality assurance program
