About The Position

Klaviyo is seeking a Lead Product Manager of Developer Experience to craft and drive the vision for their internal development environment. This role focuses on treating developers as customers, aiming to make their daily workflows faster, safer, and more joyful. The position will directly impact how quickly and confidently Klaviyo engineers can build, test, and release high-quality products. The Lead Product Manager will partner deeply with Engineering leaders across Developer Infra, SRE, and product teams to shape software development practices at Klaviyo. Key objectives include enabling faster cycle times, reducing incidents, leveraging AI to automate toil, and making Klaviyo a magnet for top engineering talent. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco office; fully remote candidates will not be considered.

Requirements

  • An Engineering leader turned Product thinker or Founder, or experience leading product for developer platforms, infrastructure, or tools with a track record of improving engineering velocity and reliability.
  • Deep empathy for engineers and experience making their workflows easier, faster, and safer.
  • Understanding of the transformative potential of AI in software development and ability to separate hype from practical value.
  • Fluency in measuring success via engineering productivity, quality, and reliability metrics (e.g., PR throughput, CFR, incident rates, DevEx indices).
  • Ability to partner with senior engineering leaders (Infra, SRE, QE, product teams) and influence without authority.
  • Thrives in fast-moving environments, balances short-term wins with long-term strategy, and biases toward automation and self-service.

Responsibilities

  • Define the product strategy for Klaviyo’s developer environment, aligning to the Need for Speed program to improve engineering velocity, developer experience, and quality.
  • Treat Klaviyo engineers as primary stakeholders, identifying pain points across the PDLC (coding, testing, deployment, maintenance) and prioritizing investments to improve their productivity and happiness.
  • Institutionalize AI as a force multiplier in development, from autonomous code agents to AI copilots for reviews and testing, ensuring Klaviyo leads in AI-first development practices.
  • Drive success metrics such as PR throughput, cycle time, change failure rate, developer experience index, and AI tool adoption.
  • Partner with SRE and QE to ensure reliability and safety are built into every paved path, decreasing incidents and defects while increasing velocity.
  • Guide architecture and tooling choices for sustainable and scalable developer experience.
  • Establish instrumentation, run surveys, and analyze metrics to continuously validate impact and adjust based on outcomes.
  • Create transparency and open feedback loops with engineers, EMs, and leadership to ensure alignment and adoption of developer tooling and practices.
