Lead Product Designer
About The Position
Sandbar is seeking a Lead Product Designer to lead design for Stream, a new conversational interface and private voice ring. The role spans the end-user experience, including UI/UX, multimodal interactions, agentic control, information representation, and product personality. The designer will work closely with software engineers, machine learning engineers, and the founders to shape the design of a new computer. The role suits a designer with broad vision and close attention to detail, who is both humanistic and technical and remains willing to revisit assumptions and start over. Sandbar is an interface company based in New York City. Its first product, Stream, has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Wired, and is scheduled to begin shipping in Summer 2026.
Requirements
- Experience developing design systems spanning multiple platforms.
- Experience shipping iOS-based apps.
- Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for large language models.
- Portfolio of prior work is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with novel form factors, inputs, audio, or vision.
- Experience in non-software design disciplines such as architecture or industrial design.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end product design spanning visual, AI, and interaction design.
- Ideate, prototype, and evaluate novel software features.
- Work closely with engineers and product to scope and implement new experiences.
