Lead Producer

Pubity Group LtdNew York, NY

About The Position

Pubity Group is seeking a Lead Producer to build and manage a slate of original, repeatable video formats for a Gen Z audience. This role is responsible for the end-to-end development, piloting, and scaling of these formats, ensuring a consistent pipeline of content that viewers will return to. The Lead Producer will own the strategy, set standards, make critical decisions about what gets produced, build and direct a team of producers, and report on performance to the Head of Studio. Success will be measured by the number of successful shows and the strength of the development pipeline.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in developing or producing short-form video for a social-first audience at scale.
  • Ability to demonstrate a slate of developed formats, not just individual content pieces.
  • Experience directing or mentoring other producers or developers.
  • Strong editorial judgment and a clear perspective on compelling, repeatable, and scalable formats.
  • Fluency in short-form content performance on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, including platform-specific nuances.
  • Confidence in analyzing performance data across multiple formats and making data-driven decisions.
  • Experience working with shared or hub-based production resources and prioritizing them across competing formats.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience pitching formats to brands, creators, or platform partners.
  • Hands-on shooting or editing experience sufficient to brief a shoot and identify on-set issues.
  • Experience with US and UK content styles or audiences.
  • Experience building or growing a development function from a small base.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development slate, including tracking what's in development, piloting, scaling, paused, or discontinued, and the reasons why.
  • Identify potential formats by analyzing existing successful content, trends, and audience data across Pubity Group's channels.
  • Establish clear criteria for each format before production, including cost, performance metrics, and definition of success.
  • Maintain a live pipeline of formats in progress to ensure consistent production.
  • Shape initial ideas into fully defined, shootable formats, specifying the hook, structure, talent, and elements that drive viewer retention.
  • Direct and guide producers and development resources, providing critical feedback and ensuring high standards.
  • Determine when to develop formats personally versus delegating, while maintaining oversight.
  • Manage the process from greenlight to pilot production, coordinating with the Pubity Production Hub.
  • Set shoot plans and pilot briefs, oversee pilot production, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Balance speed and quality during the pilot phase across multiple formats.
  • Evaluate pilot performance based on defined metrics (views, retention, engagement, repeat watch) and make decisions on scaling, reworking, pausing, or discontinuing formats.
  • Transition successful formats into ongoing production, adapting based on pilot data.
  • Provide comprehensive performance reports on the entire slate to the Head of Studio.
  • Collaborate with the Production Hub to plan and prioritize shoots across all formats.
  • Keep the Head of Studio and Co-Founders informed about pipeline status, pilot results, and scaling decisions.
  • Work with Brand Strategy and Productisation teams to package shows for commercial clients and pitches.
  • Set development standards for the team and recruit or direct additional producers as needed.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape a significant part of Pubity Group's content strategy.
  • Work with a leading Gen-Z social publisher.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion, providing opportunities for underrepresented voices.
