Lead Producer

Pubity GroupNew York, NY

About The Position

Pubity Group is seeking a Lead Producer to build and own a slate of original, repeatable video formats for their significant Gen Z audience. This role is crucial for developing content that viewers will return to week after week, moving beyond reactive, moment-based content. The Lead Producer will manage the entire development process from ideation to scaling, establish standards, build and direct a team, and provide strategic insights to the Head of Studio. Success will be measured by the number of successful shows and the strength of the development pipeline.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in developing or producing short-form video for a social-first audience at scale.
  • Ability to demonstrate a portfolio of developed formats, not just individual content pieces.
  • Experience directing or mentoring other producers or developers.
  • Strong editorial judgment and a clear perspective on creating compelling, repeatable, and scalable formats.
  • Deep understanding of short-form content performance on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, including platform-specific nuances.
  • Proficiency in analyzing performance data across multiple formats and making data-driven decisions.
  • Comfort with pausing underperforming formats and scaling unexpected successes.
  • Experience working with shared or hub-based production resources and prioritizing them across competing formats.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience pitching formats to brands, creators, or platform partners.
  • Hands-on shooting or editing experience sufficient to brief shoots and identify on-set issues.
  • Experience with US and UK content styles or audiences.
  • Experience building or growing a development function from a small base.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development slate, including tracking what's in development, piloting, scaling, and what's been paused or discontinued, with clear reasoning.
  • Identify potential formats by analyzing existing Pubity Group content, trends, and audience data.
  • Define success metrics for each format, including cost, performance indicators, and what constitutes 'working' in terms of numbers.
  • Maintain a continuous pipeline of formats to ensure consistent production.
  • Develop loose ideas into fully formed, shootable formats, defining the hook, structure, talent, and appeal for subsequent episodes.
  • Direct producers and development resources, providing guidance and sharpening their thinking.
  • Decide when to develop formats personally versus delegating, while maintaining high standards.
  • Manage the transition of formats from greenlight to pilot production, coordinating with the Pubity Production Hub.
  • Set shoot plans and pilot briefs, oversee pilot production, and ensure timely editing and release within defined windows.
  • Balance speed and quality during the pilot stage across multiple formats simultaneously.
  • Evaluate pilot performance based on views, retention, engagement, and repeat watch metrics to make scaling decisions.
  • Adjust formats, cadence, or platforms based on pilot data for ongoing series.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on slate performance to the Head of Studio, highlighting strengths and weaknesses in the pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the Production Hub to plan and prioritize shoots across the entire slate.
  • Keep the Head of Studio and Co-Founders informed about pipeline status, pilot results, and scaling decisions.
  • Set the strategic direction for formats.
  • Work with Brand Strategy and Productisation teams to package and present shows for commercial opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain high development standards across the team, and recruit/direct additional producers as needed.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape a significant part of Pubity Group's content strategy.
  • Work with a leading Gen-Z social publisher.
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive company culture.
  • Opportunity to enable underrepresented voices.
