About The Position

The Lead Piping Stress Engineer 2 provides senior-level technical direction and supervision to project team members in the piping discipline. The role establishes discipline task schedules and budgets, coordinates work across disciplines, and is accountable for delivering work that meets technical, quality, and project-controls expectations. The engineer serves as a technical liaison with clients and as a lead technical resource on projects. The position supports nuclear engineering design projects by reviewing complex calculations and approving simple calculations; providing technical guidance; and preparing, reviewing, and approving system and structural designs. It includes engineering review of drawings, coordination between design and engineering, participation in design reviews, and review of design inputs for complex systems and structures. The engineer also prepares and reviews major system, installation, and material specifications; prepares bid evaluations; participates in vendor negotiations; and prepares or reviews complex reports and studies. The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline evaluates piping systems in accordance with applicable codes, including ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and ASME B31.1 and B31.7. Specialty work may include vibration monitoring and analysis, vibration prevention and mitigation, hydraulic transients, thermal stratification, operability, hydrodynamic loads, pipe rupture, flow-accelerated or microbiologically induced corrosion, and pipe flaws. Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, reactor restarts, existing-plant life extensions and digital modernization, coal-to-nuclear initiatives, and international nuclear new-build projects. The company describes a commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability. The position does not provide U.S. work authorization sponsorship.
