About The Position

This role is for a Lead Paraprofessional (Soko) within the district for the SY26-27 school year. The ideal candidate is an existing paraprofessional in CPS with over 5 years of experience in the district and a proven track record of training new paraprofessionals. This position requires demonstrated expertise and a passion for guiding other paraprofessionals to success.

Requirements

• Paraprofessional in CPS
• 5+ years of experience in the district
• Experience training other new paraprofessionals in the district
• Demonstrated expertise as a paraprofessional
• Excitement to teach other paraprofessionals how to be successful in the role
• Ability to upload a letter of interest to the 'documents' section of the application in TalentEd.

Responsibilities

• Train and guide new paraprofessionals to excel in the position.
• Introduce new paraprofessionals to staff members and help them navigate who to go to for various tasks.
• Provide information on important dates/deadlines and guidance on other various topics related to the role.
• Support with navigating technical issues.
• Provide support for new paraprofessionals (in their first 2 years of employment) during the school day (2 half-hour sessions per month) and up to 2 hours per month after the regular workday, as designated by the Principal.
• Keep a log of the number of paraprofessionals who consulted with the Lead para and the nature of the topics raised.
• Track hours on time sheets and submit to the Clerk.
• Attend 4-6 district-wide meetings throughout the school year.

Benefits

• Hourly rate for assigned time after school by the Principal.
• $100 per month during the school year (up to 10 months).
