About The Position

This position is for a Lead Paraprofessional at Berko for the 2025-2026 school year. The role involves training and guiding new paraprofessionals, introducing them to staff, providing information on important dates and deadlines, and assisting with technical issues. The Lead Para will also provide direct support to new paraprofessionals during the school day and after regular work hours, as designated by the Principal. A log of consultations and submitted time sheets are required. The Lead Para will attend district-wide meetings and receive compensation for assigned after-school time, plus a monthly stipend.

Requirements

Must be a paraprofessional in CPS
Must have worked 5+ years in the district
Must have experience training other new paraprofessionals in the district
Demonstrated expertise as a paraprofessional
Excitement to teach other paraprofessionals how to be successful in the role

Responsibilities

Train and guide new paraprofessionals to excel in the position
Introduce the new paraprofessional to staff members and help navigate who to go to for various tasks
Provide information on important dates/ deadlines and guidance on other various topics related to the role
Support with navigating technical issues
Providing support for new paras, who are in the first 2 years of employment, during the school day (2 half hour sessions per month) and during up to 2 hours per month after the regular work day; the timeframe is designated by the Principal
Keep a log of number of paraprofessional who consulted with the Lead para and the nature of the topics raised
Track hours on time sheets and submit to the Clerk
Attend 4-6 district-wide meetings throughout the school year
