About The Position

This role is for an experienced and licensed music teacher with demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills. The Lead - Music (CHS) will be responsible for planning and facilitating monthly department meetings, professional development activities, new teacher orientations, and summer curriculum development. This role also involves coordinating annual concerts, developing a performing arts calendar, managing budgets, ordering materials, supporting after-school programming, and facilitating equipment repair and maintenance. The lead will also attend school concerts, communicate with parent liaisons and the communications manager for event advertising, serve as a point of contact for community performance requests, maintain relationships with outside organizations, and attend monthly meetings with the assistant superintendent. Responsibilities extend beyond the regular school day/school year.

Requirements

  • Experienced and licensed teacher in the respective discipline area.
  • Demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills.
  • Ability to upload a letter of interest to the "documents" section of the application in TalentEd.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate monthly CHS department meetings including professional development activities.
  • Organize professional development activities for the October PD Day, Chelsea Professional Learning Academies, and new teacher orientation sessions.
  • Conduct summer curriculum development using the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards.
  • Oversee all elements of the annual CHS concert, including coordination with music and band teachers, principals, buildings and grounds, community schools, and the police department for space, instrument movement, and concert execution.
  • Develop a CHS performing arts calendar in collaboration with school staff.
  • Manage the budget and order materials for the performing arts program.
  • Support after-school programming as needed.
  • Facilitate the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support teacher needs and concerns.
  • Attend performing arts concerts at individual schools to provide support and feedback.
  • Communicate with parent liaisons and the communications manager for advertising events and outreach.
  • Serve as the point of contact for community performance requests.
  • Help maintain relationships with outside organizations.
  • Attend a monthly meeting with the assistant superintendent.
