About The Position

The Lead - Visual Arts (CHS) position is responsible for planning and facilitating district-wide department meetings, including professional development activities. This role also involves coordinating the annual district-wide concert, developing a performing arts calendar, managing budgets, ordering materials, and supporting after-school programming. The lead will also attend performing arts concerts at individual schools, communicate with parent liaisons and the communications manager for event advertising, serve as a point of contact for community performance requests, maintain relationships with outside organizations, and attend monthly meetings with the assistant superintendent. Responsibilities extend beyond the regular school day/school year.

Requirements

  • Experienced and licensed teacher in the respective discipline area.
  • Demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills.

  • Experience with National Coalition for Core Arts Standards curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate monthly district-wide department meetings with professional development activities.
  • Coordinate all elements of the annual district-wide concert, including securing space, moving instruments, and performing the concert.
  • Develop a district performing arts calendar in collaboration with school staff.
  • Manage the budget and order materials for the performing arts program.
  • Support after-school programming as needed.
  • Support the New Instrument Night (middle schools).
  • Facilitate the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support teacher needs and concerns.
  • Attend performing arts concerts at individual schools to provide support and feedback.
  • Communicate with parent liaisons and the communications manager for advertising events and outreach.
  • Serve as the point of contact when performing groups are needed throughout the community.
  • Help maintain relationships with outside organizations.
  • Attend a monthly meeting with the assistant superintendent.
