About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Lead Mechanical Project Manager to manage all mechanical activities associated with assigned projects. This includes pre-construction, design, phased construction, closeout coordination, commissioning, start-up, occupancy, and warranty enforcement. The role serves as the primary mechanical point of contact between the client, GC’s, EPC’s, AECOM staff, and project stakeholders, ensuring alignment between mechanical infrastructure requirements and overall project objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing the installation of mission-critical mechanical systems, monitoring contractor performance, conducting field inspections, and coordinating mechanical milestones with other disciplines. The position also involves providing technical direction, administering client and AECOM policies, and ensuring projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Collaboration with commissioning agents, GC’s, EPC’s, and the client is essential for successful commissioning, phased start-up, and building turnover. The role requires monitoring construction progress, processing field construction documentation, providing engineering support, coordinating field activities, attending site-based meetings, and coordinating project documentation with Project Controls. Reviewing and commenting on Pay Applications and working with the client’s OFCI firm to review off-site stored equipment are also key duties.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field.
Fifteen years in Construction.
PMP , CCM , or equivalent certification.
Experience managing large-scale industrial, mission-critical or data center projects.
Knowledge of MEP systems, electrical distribution, cooling infrastructure, and critical facility operations.
Understanding of construction means and methods, project delivery processes, and contract administration.
Familiarity with commissioning processes and operational readiness planning and execution.
Experience managing mechanical scopes in excess of $100M in construction value.
Experience with cloud-based PMIS and project controls platforms.
Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Manages all mechanical activities associated with assigned project including but not limited to, pre-construction, design, phased construction, closeout coordination, commissioning, start-up and occupancy and warranty enforcement.
Serve as the primary mechanical point of contract between the client, GC’s, EPC’s, AECOM staff and project stakeholders.
Ensure alignment between mechanical infrastructure requirements and overall project objectives.
Oversee installation of mission-critical mechanical systems including, but not limited to: Chillers, CRAH and CRAC units, mechanical dry coolers, coolant system piping and pumps, air handling equipment.
Monitor contractor performance and conduct field inspections to verify installation quality, progress and conformance to contract specifications.
Coordinate mechanical milestones with electrical, civil, architectural, and commissioning teams.
Provide technical direction and guidance to others as needed as administers client and AECOM policies, maintains close interface with project team, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule and quality requirements.
Work with commissioning agents, GC’s, EPC’s and client to ensure successful commissioning activities, phased start-up and turnover of different portions of the buildings on-site.
Monitor construction work progress, process field construction documentation (RFI and submittal validation and logging), also provide engineering support and coordination of construction field activities with inspectors.
Coordinate with the general contractor on required meetings and attend all site-based meetings.
Coordinate project documentation with Project Controls (cost and schedule) reviewers.
Review and provide comments on submitted Pay Applications.
Work with client’s OFCI firm to review and document condition of any off-site stored mechanical equipment including gathering all the necessary insurances and bill of sales for Owner supporting pay application review and approval on behalf of the Owner.
