About The Position
The Lead Mechanic provides lower-level technicians with guidance in vehicle repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures, following directives, technical manuals, work standards, and operational policies. The role performs routine equipment repairs and maintenance, supports reliable operations, and helps coordinate repair work and communication among associates. The position also covers operations and maintenance roles as required and performs other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Three years of transportation mechanic experience.
- High school diploma.
Responsibilities
- Guide lower-level technicians in vehicle repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures.
- Perform daily mechanical repairs and services on equipment.
- Perform motor and gearbox changes and maintenance.
- Contribute to daily start-up and monthly department meetings to ensure thorough communication with associates.
- Manage and monitor the performance and efficiency of repair operations.
- Participate in technical and safety training programs.
- Use computer systems and applications as needed, including work management and project scheduling systems, CAD programs, email, calendars, and spreadsheets.
- Direct Maintenance Mechanics in maintaining plant equipment safely and properly, with the goal of 100% reliability and minimum downtime for unexpected repairs.
- Cover operations and maintenance positions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
