About The Position

This role is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance, interpreting technical writing and procedures, and reading engineering drawings. The technician will ensure proper set-up of production machines and ancillary equipment, adhere to plant policies and GMPs, and operate in a manner that protects health, safety, and the environment. Responsibilities include completing paperwork for the Maximo system, maintaining equipment records, ordering repair parts, reporting issues, and transporting hazardous waste. The role also involves coordinating and performing unscheduled maintenance, assisting with repairs, providing technical assistance, and supporting projects. Electrical/electronic troubleshooting abilities are essential, along with assisting in training other personnel and monitoring equipment performance. The technician will also help ensure product quality and quantity goals and promote production/scrap reduction. In the absence of a supervisor, this role will be responsible for maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret technical writing and procedures.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use a personal computer equipped with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to personnel in the assigned area.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate rate and percent and interpret basic graphs.
  • Basic Metrology knowledge.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to make rational decisions in the absence of supervision.
  • Must be proficient in the use of small hand tools and electrical hand tools.
  • Must be proficient with necessary measuring equipment (Dial calipers, micrometers, gages, et.).
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have the ability to accept and work with constant change.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Electrical/Electronic troubleshooting abilities, with a working knowledge of electrical controls, motors and feedback components.
  • 8-10 years medical device manufacturing related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance as assigned by supervisor in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance schedule.
  • Ability to interpret technical writing and procedures.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use a personal computer equipped with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ensure proper set-up of production machines and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications at the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), ISO 9002 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures.
  • Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources and protects the environment.
  • Complete all pertinent paperwork pertaining to the assigned tasks and maximum system being produced according to established guidelines in manufacturing procedures.
  • Report any unusual or unacceptable circumstances to supervisor.
  • Responsible to observe department’s regulations and to use personal protective equipment as required, must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities.
  • Responsible to observe plant regulations and use personal protective equipment as required, must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained.
  • Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas.
  • Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training.
