About The Position

The Maintenance team at Cardinal Health is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance, interpreting technical writing and procedures, and ensuring the proper set-up of production machines and ancillary equipment. This role adheres to plant policies, EHS rules, GMPs, ISO 9002 regulations, and Good Housekeeping procedures, while prioritizing the health and safety of employees and environmental conservation. The position involves completing paperwork for production and the Maximo system, maintaining equipment records, ordering repair parts, and reporting any unusual circumstances. Safety consciousness, Lockout/Tag-out training, and proper use of PPE are essential. The role also includes coordinating and performing unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and modifications, assisting with equipment maintenance and training, providing technical assistance, and supporting projects. Electrical/Electronic troubleshooting abilities are required, along with a working knowledge of electrical controls, motors, and feedback components. The Lead Maintenance Technician will also assist in training other personnel, monitoring equipment and personnel performance, ensuring product quality and quantity goals, promoting production and scrap reduction, and analyzing product defects to initiate corrective action. This position is responsible for maintenance operations in the absence of the maintenance/manufacturing supervisor.

Requirements

  • Two-year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferred.
  • 8-10 years medical device manufacturing related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must have the ability to provide technical leadership to personnel in the assigned area.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate rate and percent and interpret basic graphs.
  • Basic Metrology knowledge.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to make rational decisions in the absence of supervision.
  • Must be proficient in the use of small hand tools and electrical hand tools.
  • Must be proficient with necessary measuring equipment (Dial calipers, micrometers, gages, et.)
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have the ability to accept and work with constant change.
  • Must be a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance as assigned by supervisor in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance schedule.
  • Ability to interpret technical writing and procedures.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use a personal computer equipped with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ensure proper set-up of production machines and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications at the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), ISO 9002 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures.
  • Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources and protects the environment.
  • Complete all pertinent paperwork pertaining to the assigned tasks and maximum system being produced according to established guidelines in manufacturing procedures.
  • Report any unusual or unacceptable circumstances to supervisor.
  • Responsible to observe department’s regulations and to use personal protective equipment as required, must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities
  • Responsible to observe plant regulations and use personal protective equipment as required, must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained.
  • Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas.
  • Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training.
