About The Position

Rockford Center is searching for an experienced Maintenance Technician for full time day shift position with rotating weekends and holidays. Rockford Center is a 138-bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing easy access to a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. Rockford is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in DE, offers an experienced and tenured senior management team, and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland. Position Summary: The Lead Maintenance Technician performs advanced maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance activities to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hospital facilities, equipment, and building systems within an acute behavioral health hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Previous maintenance experience in a hospital setting preferred and industry certifications.
  • Five (5) years of related experience, with knowledge of facility maintenance, HVAC and plumming.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate a safe driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced maintenance, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance activities on hospital facilities, building systems, equipment, and grounds.
  • Conducts routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and life safety systems and identifies corrective actions to maintain compliance and operational readiness.
  • Completes preventive maintenance work orders and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with departmental schedules, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, testing, and preventive maintenance using established documentation and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Assists with facility projects, renovations, equipment installations, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
  • Serves as a technical resource within the department by providing guidance, instruction, and hands-on training to newly hired maintenance employees regarding maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Responds to routine, urgent, and emergency maintenance requests to minimize disruptions to patient care and hospital operations.
