Requirements

  • Diploma from a regionally accredited public or private institution in Air Conditioning Technology
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in an air conditioning technology environment or equivalent experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot, research and help solve technical problems
  • Ability to learn software and hardware tools as applicable to the program
  • Ability to follow technical instructions
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire
  • Ability to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or technical institution
  • NATE and/or HVAC/R industry recognized certifications

Responsibilities

  • Assists faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance, obtaining materials for classes, and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction
  • Assists faculty with supervision, mentoring, and one-on-one support of students during scheduled lab sessions or tutoring sessions
  • Assists faculty with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe lab environment
  • Assists with inventory maintenance and requisition of supplies
  • Ensure student workstations are organized and fully stocked
  • Ensure organization and safe storage of refrigerant cylinders in the designated refrigerant storage area; check level of all nitrogen, oxygen, and acetylene cylinders weekly and mark any cylinders that are low
  • Regularly inspect all tools and equipment to ensure safe and proper operation
  • Assist with maintaining lab equipment, tools, and furnishings; performs routine maintenance on equipment, as instructed
  • Ensure proper and safe storage of brazing and soldering torches
  • Ensure equipment, tools, and materials are set up for the planned daily labs
  • Ensure all exits, isles, eyewash stations, and emergency shutoffs always remain clear for safety
  • Perform a weekly inspection of the eye wash and first aid centers and maintain a list of items in need of replenishing or replacement
  • Greet guests and visitors to the department and provide appropriate assistance
  • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed
  • Assists with special projects or initiatives, as needed
  • Completes ALL required employee trainings
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by program chair
