About The Position
Unique Cleaning Service, Inc. is seeking a Lead Janitor for a federal facility in Houston, TX. This role involves training and supervising janitorial staff, ensuring proper cleaning methods, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance. The Lead Janitor will also assist with vendor coordination, quality control, supply management, and administrative tasks related to janitorial personnel. This position requires hands-on work and the ability to perform various cleaning duties as needed, ensuring adherence to company, customer, and OSHA standards. A REAL ID is required for entry into the federal facility.
Requirements
- Must have a REAL ID with a STAR for entry into the federal facility.
- Ability to perform hands-on cleaning duties.
- Knowledge of chemical labeling, dilution, and storage requirements.
- Understanding of company, customer, and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities
- Train new janitors on proper cleaning methods and provide refresher training.
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment, including preventive maintenance.
- Train janitors on safety practices for using cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Assist in coordinating vendor services such as pest control and window cleaning.
- Assist with quality control inspections to ensure compliance with scope of work and standards.
- Stock and maintain supplies and inventory.
- Delegate schedules to ensure proper work area coverage.
- Provide hands-on support and perform cleaning work when necessary (e.g., dust mopping, sweeping, stripping/refinishing, carpet extraction, servicing restrooms, window washing).
- Ensure appropriate chemical labeling, dilution, and storage in accordance with company, customer, and OSHA standards.
- Participate in company and customer training, ensuring effective communication of information.
- Assist with administrative tasks involving janitorial personnel.
- Coordinate, assign, and inspect the work of assigned janitorial staff, including regular review and revisions of checklists.
- Provide guidance and training as needed.
- Coordinate regular and substitute cleaning team member staff coverage.
- Perform routine safety checks and preventative maintenance of janitorial equipment.
- Ensure all employees have and utilize the appropriate PPE.
