About The Position

The DiSTI Corporation, a leader in graphical user interface software and customized 3D training solutions, is seeking a Lead Instructional Systems Designer (ISD). This role is based near the University of Central Florida and serves clients globally, including Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. military, across automotive, aerospace, medical, and training markets. This position requires on-site presence and focuses on creating high-quality training courseware for complex defense systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in interactive e-learning, a deep understanding of instructional design principles and learning theory, and strong visual design skills. Collaboration with SMEs, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders is crucial.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct ISD experience in the defense industry, with 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Academic background in instructional design, educational technology, courseware development, or related field.
  • Expertise in multimedia principles applicable to the design/development phases of the ADDIE Model.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences (technical teams, leadership, customers).
  • Experience working in deadline-driven, high-expectation environments.
  • Daily travel to offices in Brevard County.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance (must be current at time of hire).
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a substantial amount of time operating a computer terminal.
  • Only US citizens are eligible for this role due to contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ISDs, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Guide project execution by directing team efforts, removing obstacles, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Perform work with limited direction.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to complex instructional design challenges.
  • Advise project leadership on training strategies, emerging learning technologies, and best practices.
  • Establish and enforce instructional design policies, standards, and quality benchmarks.
  • Scale design operations to meet evolving program demands.
  • Apply instructional design principles and learning theory to create effective training for diverse audiences.
  • Manage collaboration across a cross-functional team including many Subject Matter Experts (engineers, maintainers, operators) to ensure technical accuracy and instructional effectiveness.
  • Monitor project health under Project Manager direction, tracking progress against goals, schedules, and budgets; identifying and mitigating risks proactively to keep the project on track.
