About The Position

The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface software and customized 3D training solutions, is seeking a Lead Instructional Systems Designer. This role is strictly onsite, with no remote work options available. The Lead Instructional Systems Designer will oversee a team of ISDs in Melbourne, FL, focusing on creating high-quality training courseware for complex defense systems. Responsibilities include providing strategic direction, setting design standards, and collaborating with project leadership for successful training solution delivery. The position requires on-site presence with a 4/10 schedule, granting every Friday off.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct ISD experience in the defense industry, with 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role; additional relevant experience may be considered.
  • Academic background in instructional design, educational technology, courseware development, or related field.
  • Expertise in multimedia principles applicable to the design/development phases of the ADDIE Model.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences (technical teams, leadership, customers).
  • Experience working in deadline-driven, high-expectation environments.
  • Daily travel to offices in Brevard County Required.
  • Schedule: 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).
  • Setting: Mix of office and laboratory environments with regular team collaboration.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance (must be current at time of hire).
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a substantial amount of time operating a computer terminal.
  • Due to contract requirements, only US citizens are eligible for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ISDs, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Guide project execution by directing team efforts, removing obstacles, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Perform work with limited direction.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to complex instructional design challenges.
  • Advise project leadership on training strategies, emerging learning technologies, and best practices.
  • Establish and enforce instructional design policies, standards, and quality benchmarks.
  • Scale design operations to meet evolving program demands.
  • Apply instructional design principles and learning theory to create effective training for diverse audiences.
  • Manage collaboration across a cross-functional team including many Subject Matter Experts (engineers, maintainers, operators) to ensure technical accuracy and instructional effectiveness.
  • Monitor project health under Project Manager direction, tracking progress against goals, schedules, and budgets; identifying and mitigating risks proactively to keep the project on track.
