About The Position

Lastwall is a Canadian cybersecurity company focused on identity and mission-critical operations across defense, government, and critical infrastructure. Trusted by the U.S. Department of Defense and the Government of Canada, Lastwall has spent nearly a decade securing sensitive government environments. With FedRAMP Moderate Authorization, proven traction in the U.S. federal market, and growing demand for sovereign cybersecurity capability, we are entering a defining growth phase across Canada and the United States. We are hiring a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to help design, operate, and scale the infrastructure that supports Lastwall’s secure identity platform. This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who can own production systems, improve reliability and security, and help mature the infrastructure practices behind mission-critical software. You will work across cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, reliability, security, and compliance-driven operations. The right candidate will be comfortable operating in high-trust environments where uptime, auditability, resilience, and secure execution matter. You will join a small, high-impact engineering team where technical judgment, ownership, and practical leadership are essential. You will help strengthen the systems, practices, and infrastructure foundations that allow Lastwall to scale with demanding government, defense, and critical infrastructure customers. Headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and with offices in Vancouver and Honolulu, Lastwall is positioned to help strengthen North American cyber resilience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience operating distributed systems in production cloud infrastructure, including secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, automation, environment management, and repeatable deployment practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build systems, deployment automation, and developer enablement.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar.
  • Experience with EC2, Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized workloads.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, security controls, and production operations.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, and incident response.
  • Familiarity with secure infrastructure practices, including access control, secrets management, segmentation, vulnerability management, and least-privilege design.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives end-to-end, from design through implementation, documentation, and operational handoff.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, security, product, and operations.
  • Comfort in a small but growing company, where ownership, adaptability, and practical execution matter.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong AWS experience, ideally including AWS GovCloud or similarly regulated cloud environments.
  • Experience working in FedRAMP, government, defense, critical infrastructure, or other regulated environments.
  • Experience with containerized environments, such as Docker and orchestration platforms.
  • Experience supporting Rust, PostgreSQL, and modern web application infrastructure.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks, audit evidence collection, or secure change-management processes.
  • Experience with high-availability architecture, disaster recovery, backup strategy, and resilience planning.
  • Familiarity with authentication, identity, PKI, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, or Zero Trust architectures.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or helping lead an infrastructure, DevOps, platform, or SRE function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and operation of secure, reliable infrastructure that supports Lastwall’s identity platform. Help define infrastructure standards, operating practices, and technical direction as the company scales.
  • Build, manage, and improve cloud-based systems across development, staging, and production environments. Support infrastructure that is scalable, observable, secure, and resilient for enterprise and government customers.
  • Develop and maintain automation for provisioning, deployment, configuration, and environment management. Use infrastructure-as-code practices to improve repeatability, reduce manual effort, and support secure change management.
  • Improve system reliability through monitoring, alerting, logging, metrics, and incident response practices. Help define and track service health, availability, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Apply secure infrastructure practices across cloud environments, access controls, secrets management, networking, deployment pipelines, and production operations. Support compliance-driven requirements for regulated and high-trust customers.
  • Partner with software developers to improve build, test, deployment, and release workflows. Help maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines that support secure and efficient delivery of Lastwall’s products.
  • Participate in production support, troubleshooting, incident response, and Learning From Incidents. Bring structure to operational issues and help improve systems so recurring problems are addressed at the source.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers working with infrastructure, deployment, and production systems. Help raise the team’s infrastructure maturity through documentation, review, guidance, and practical standards.
