About The Position

Discovery Kids Childcare, a 4-Star Parent Aware, NAEYC-accredited program within Orono Public Schools, is seeking a Lead Infant Teacher to lead an infant classroom. The teacher will create a safe, joyful space where infants can thrive and families feel supported. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, Monday through Friday, at the Orono Schools Discovery Center. The role pays $21.62 to $23.84 per hour, based on experience, and does not require weekend work.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in early childhood education, including caring for infants.
• Classroom leadership or mentoring experience.
• A warm, respectful approach to partnering with families.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate daily activities for infants.
• Track children’s growth using Teaching Strategies GOLD and hold family conferences twice a year.
• Mentor and guide assistant teachers and aides in the classroom.
• Share daily photo updates on Seesaw and a monthly family newsletter.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and maintain staff-to-child ratios.
