About The Position

We are looking for a seasoned HS & IH professional with oversight of all health, safety and industrial hygiene matters within the particular division, with the objective of minimizing HS & IH liabilities to the company.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local government regulations related to health, safety, and industrial hygiene.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in health, safety and industrial hygiene program development, implementation, and management.
  • Requires a strong understanding of Bridgestone Americas policies and procedures.
  • BS in Safety / Industrial Hygiene / Engineering or equivalent and 4+ years’ full-time safety and health experience.
  • MS in Safety / Industrial Hygiene / Engineering and 2+ years full time safety and health experience.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • GSP, ASP, CSP, CIH or related certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the division’s operational leadership and locations in their efforts to develop and achieve safety objectives.
  • Reviews HS & IH policies and procedures. Leads their implementation as developed, updated, or otherwise as necessary to ensure comprehensive safety and health activities within the division.
  • Conducts regular HS & IH audits for educational and conformance purposes.
  • Promotes and monitors safety activities and processes, driving proactiveness.
  • Supports the investigation of serious loss incidents and assists with determining root causes and developing countermeasures.
  • Works with plant/site leadership to develop and implement HS&IH initiatives.
  • Oversees and supports OSHA recordkeeping and other internal/external reporting for their division and locations.
  • Oversees and supports regulatory related matters, including those related to OSHA and involving enforcement actions or consultative services.
  • Provides technical assistance to plant/site personnel on HS & IH matters. This includes training and developing plant/field safety managers, coordinators, and contacts.
  • Acts as a primary HS & IH expert within the division, with ability to advise leadership and management on essential HS & IH matters.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the division’s operational goals and strategies.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends and practices in safety.
  • Provides consultative advice on specific technical issues where required.
  • Effectively communicates safety information to numerous audiences across all levels.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with internal and external resources.
