About The Position

The Lead Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions and menus in a correctional setting. The position is onsite inside a jail or correctional facility and reports to a Food Service Director. The role includes helping team members prepare food, serving meals, maintaining food-safe workstations, and following food safety and sanitation procedures. Employees receive training and may have opportunities for career advancement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, walk, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to remain on one’s feet for much of the scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and assist team members in preparing quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions, promptly.
• Clean and maintain a neat, food-safe workstation, including cleaning as work progresses.
• Pull trash, sweep, and mop.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
• Follow food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
• Perform routine kitchen tasks in an organized and clean manner.
• Carry out other responsibilities as determined by operational needs.
