About The Position

The Lead, Finance – Oracle Functional Support serves as the primary functional expert for Oracle Financials within Rocketdyne’s Finance organization. Working at the intersection of Finance and IT, this role supports Oracle users, improves system performance, and helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The position calls for deep functional knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (R12), an understanding of how financial processes translate into system behavior, and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams to improve the systems supporting the business. Responsibilities include defining requirements, troubleshooting issues, supporting enhancements, coordinating testing, and helping ensure financial systems remain reliable and scalable. The position is housed in Finance and maintains a dotted-line connection to IT Applications leadership to align with enterprise system standards. Direct SQL queries against the production database are not part of the role; approved reporting infrastructure such as Snowflake is used in accordance with governance guidance. The role supports Rocketdyne’s growth and data-driven operations by helping ensure Oracle Financials meets enterprise needs, system issues are resolved, enhancements reflect business requirements, Finance and IT coordinate effectively, users receive support and training, upgrades and patches are validated, and data and integrations remain accurate. Success includes improved issue resolution, enhancements that improve user outcomes, reliable reporting, and trust in Oracle and its integration points.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least 9 years of relevant Finance experience; or a graduate degree and at least 7 years of relevant Finance experience; or, in lieu of a degree, at least 13 years of relevant Finance experience.

Responsibilities

Serve as Finance’s primary functional expert for Oracle Financials (R12), including Projects (billing, revenue, and capital), Oracle Time and Labor, Payables, Assets, Receivables, E-Business Tax, Project Contracts, HR, and General Ledger.
Analyze system issues, identify root causes, and document functional requirements for fixes and enhancements.
Liaise between Finance users and the IT Applications team, ensuring alignment, visibility, and accurate translation of business needs.
Support data loads, integrations, testing, configuration, upgrades and patching, and user training.
Use approved reporting tools such as Snowflake to support reporting needs; do not query the Oracle production database directly using SQL.
Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, AP, Program Accounting, Procurement, and HR to ensure accurate system interactions.
Participate in and occasionally lead system enhancement projects, process redesign, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain documentation of processes, requirements, and configurations.
Support end users through issue resolution, training, and guidance.
Ensure system changes comply with internal controls, security requirements, and governance standards.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
