About The Position

The Lead Engineer will join a mechanical design team developing next-generation exhaust technology for military propulsion applications. The role leads nozzle technology development, with a focus on ceramic matrix composite (CMC) materials, in collaboration with materials, manufacturing, test, and systems teams. The position owns a nozzle technology development project and advances technology readiness through engineering analysis, component testing, and materials evaluation. The successful candidate will lead work through the development lifecycle, from concept and detailed design to analysis, drawing release, and testing. They will work through evolving and sometimes ambiguous requirements, apply sound engineering judgment, and communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to engineering and business leadership, customers, and partners. The role requires onsite, full-time work and the ability to maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite for that clearance. Employment also requires the ability to prove U.S. Person status for access to export-controlled information. Relocation assistance is provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design and/or mechanical analysis roles.
  • Ability to maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is stated as a prerequisite for obtaining a clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time.
  • Ability to prove U.S. Person status as a U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, or person granted asylee or refugee status, for access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with exhaust nozzles, structures, ducts, and liners.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous design challenges and scenarios.
  • Systems-level thinking in a teaming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and technology maturation for advanced exhaust nozzle components and systems, emphasizing CMC materials and next-generation military propulsion applications.
  • Own technical execution across concept design, detailed design, analysis, drawing release, component testing, and materials evaluation.
  • Collaborate with materials, manufacturing, test, and systems teams to develop design solutions and address technical issues while supporting producibility, testability, and program execution.
