The Lead Engineer – Yaw Systems joins GE Vernova’s Wind Global Machine Head Yaw subsystem team and owns hardware for utility-scale wind turbine yaw systems. The role covers design, analysis, supplier qualification, testing, and validation, with a primary focus on hydraulic and passive mechanical braking systems throughout their lifecycle—from concept and detailed design through development, qualification, manufacturing, and installed-fleet support. The engineer drives technical excellence and continuous improvement in component design, analysis, cost, and reliability. The position leads work on new product introductions, technology integration, and field issue resolution, emphasizing quality and reliability verified through physical testing. Responsibilities span hydraulic pressure unit systems, yaw bearings, yaw drives, and yaw brakes, including component design, system interaction, and reliability. The engineer also supports manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, and field teams with design-related issue resolution and corrective actions, and works to improve product quality and first-time yield. This role is expected to incorporate lessons learned, best practices, and standardization into design documentation; develop testing and validation plans; maintain quality in drawings, bills of materials, and specifications; and conduct technical root-cause analysis of field failures. It also drives cost-saving initiatives and the introduction of advanced technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and design tools. Travel may be required up to 10%. Relocation assistance is provided. For U.S.-based candidates, the stated pay range is $89,300–$148,700, with geographic differentials in certain areas and eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.
