Lead Data Governance Analyst

Marathon Petroleum Corporation•Findlay, OH

About The Position

Marathon Petroleum's Digital organization is seeking a Lead Data Governance Analyst to advance data governance and data product enablement across related business domains for the Middle Office function and Order to Cash global process. Working with Global Process Owners, Domain Owners, Data Product Owners, business Data Stewards, and Digital partners, the role turns the federated data governance model into sustainable business capabilities. It requires deep business and data understanding to solve data-related problems, mature governance practices, and partner with Digital to deliver valuable, high-quality data products. As part of Enterprise Data Governance, the analyst advises, coaches, facilitates, and shares knowledge across organizational levels so the data strategy addresses real business problems. The role establishes the data governance operating model across each domain and provides ongoing coaching and change enablement while preserving business ownership and decision rights. It demonstrates how technology-stack components support data governance, gathers internal-customer feedback about workflows and platform capabilities, and contributes to enterprise accelerators, templates, and training materials. The position translates domain policy and compliance needs into platform-control requirements and works with appropriate teams to ensure controls operate properly. It contributes to audit discussions by clarifying control ownership, effectiveness criteria, and evidence, partnering with technical implementers and control owners without configuring controls or replacing independent assurance. The position is based in Findlay, Ohio, with additional listed locations in Houston and San Antonio, Texas.

  • Coach domain stakeholders after activation, track outcomes and actions, and provide portfolio visibility through domain forums and enterprise governance reporting.
  • Share governance policies and roles; facilitate business input into domain charters; clarify scope and decision rights; and establish forums, records, and escalation routines.
