About The Position

This position requires extensive hands-on analysis, maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility operations within Aligned Data Centers. The Lead Critical Facilities Technician (LCFT) is responsible for owning their site during their scheduled shift, acting as the first point of escalation for all Critical Facilities Technicians/Technicians on shift. The role involves reviewing and establishing daily workflows, directing and delegating tasks to ensure a safe, organized, productive, and responsive day, while maintaining constant knowledge of site health and re-prioritizing tasks as needed. The LCFT also supports the development and execution of training programs, assists with team schedule management, oversees customer service requests, supports construction projects, and is responsible for preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all site assets. A solid understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing, generators, UPSs, PDUs, STSs, electrical switchgear, fire detection and suppression systems, life safety systems, and building management systems is crucial. The role emphasizes ensuring a safe work environment, developing and improving processes, and fostering a positive team culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and minimum 3-5 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical critical facilities support; or 7+ years’ experience as HVAC or mechanical technician.
  • Able to work overtime and longer shifts if needed at the site (greater than 12 hours).
  • Computer skills required: MS Office.

  • Electrical/Mechanical certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the site during the scheduled shift, acting as the first point of escalation for all CFTs/CFMTs on shift.
  • Review and establish the daily workflow, directing and delegating to on-shift techs to ensure a safe, organized, productive, and responsive day.
  • Maintain constant knowledge of site health and re-prioritize tasks as needed.
  • Monitor building operations and virtually tour properties constantly during scheduled shift (BMS Rounds).
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns, and appropriately escalate.
  • Respond immediately to site incidents (equipment failure, SLA violation, system deviation, etc.) and escalate based on severity level.
  • Support the development and execution of new hire and ongoing training materials and programs.
  • Actively support the FM with coordination and management of team schedules, PTO, and shift swaps.
  • Oversee and coordinate all Customer Service (SNOW) request to Operations.
  • Work with the FM to support all construction projects and activities.
  • Responsible for site preventative maintenance on all site assets (critical and non-critical equipment).
  • Responsible for site predictive and corrective maintenance on all site assets (critical and non-critical equipment).
  • Support all areas of operation, including safe operation/delegation of HVAC systems, plumbing installations, generators, UPSs, PDUs, STSs, electrical switchgear, fire detection and suppression systems, life safety systems, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems.
  • Ensure all work performed on site is in strict accordance with governing MOP/SOP/EOP/CR procedures and maintenance work instructions.
  • Oversee work efforts of third-party work on site for safe and compliant operation.
  • Work closely with FM and MPM to ensure proper parts are ordered for any predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance identified.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and tracked inventory of critical spare parts for all system types.
  • Understand the engineering design, operational aspects, and SOOs of all electrical systems, mechanical systems, and fire systems.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by verifying site safety rules are always being followed.
  • Call-out and stop unsafe work.
  • Respond to and escalate any safety incidents.
  • Work to develop and improve processes to ensure continuous innovation and improvement of Aligned’s operation and services.
