PT Lead Community Outreach Specialist - Limited Term
About The Position
This limited-term position, expected to last up to 14 months, provides leadership and oversight to Community Outreach Specialists within the Homeless Solutions Division. The role is responsible for coordinating and directing daily outreach activities, ensuring continuity of services in the absence of the Homeless Solutions Manager, and performing outreach services such as intake and assessment to the homeless. The position also involves identifying needs for housing assistance, assisting in program implementation, transporting clients, collaborating with various organizations for resources, maintaining case management files, acting as a liaison for outreach programs, and coordinating educational presentations.
Requirements
- Three years of experience working with homeless populations and/or individuals who are mentally ill and/or developmentally disabled
- Some experience working with City, County and non-profit organizations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license at the time of appointment
Nice To Haves
- College level coursework in behavioral science is desirable
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight to community outreach specialists and subcontracted outreach teams
- Act as replacement in absence of Homeless Solutions Manager
- Direct outreach staff in daily assigned duties
- Provides outreach services, such as intake and assessment to the homeless
- Identify needs for housing assistance services and provides resources
- Assists in the implementation of programs goals and objectives and provide recommendations
- Transport clients to appropriate services, as needed
- Work in close conjunction with non-profit organizations, local service providers, county entities, and faith-based organizations to obtain resources
- Create and maintain case management files and progress reports
- Act as City’s liaison for outreach programs; establish and maintain effective relationships with governmental and community agencies regarding programs and services
- Coordinate and/or assist in educational presentations for the public about homeless topics
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned
