About The Position

This job title is responsible for overseeing coating inspection activities for assigned projects, ensuring all surface preparation and coating applications meet customer specifications, project requirements, and applicable AMPP standards. The individual works with Inspection Supervisor, applicators, and management to ensure proper application and inspection of external coatings. The position is responsible for monitoring environmental conditions, surface preparation, coating application, and inspection results while communicating project status, quality requirements, and customer expectations to management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Required Certification: Level II AMPP (NACE) Coating Inspector
  • 3 years previous coating inspection experience with demonstrated experience in industrial coating applications and inspection.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tubular coating application preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and direct daily coating inspection duties for all personnel within their work area
  • Ensure the latest revision of required coating specifications, procedures, drawings and customer requirements are referenced within their work area
  • Read and interpret coating specifications and procedures, then communicate requirements to personnel within their work area as needed
  • Train, direct and oversee personnel on coating inspection and job-related duties within their work area
  • Inspect and oversee surface preparation activities, including cleanliness, profile and environmental conditions prior to coating application
  • Inspect and oversee coating applications to verify proper application, coverage, recoat requirements and compliance with specified procedures
  • Perform and oversee required coating inspection measurements and testing, including environmental conditions, surface profile, wet film thickness and dry film thickness as required by the applicable specification
  • Verify coating materials, application methods and equipment are in accordance with approved procedures and manufacturer requirements
  • Oversee interpretation and recording of coating inspection results and identify nonconforming conditions
  • Ensure accurate reporting, documentation and completion of inspection records for work performed within their area
  • Ensure all inspection equipment is in good working order, properly maintained and calibrated as required
  • Communicate job status, coating quality issues and inspection results to management and the customer as required
  • Ensure all personnel follow applicable HSE requirements, coating manufacturer requirements and customer specifications
  • Access process and procedures for improvement opportunities or adjustments
  • Supervise 3-4 indirect reports
