About The Position

The Lead Cashier is responsible for efficient guest transactions and maintaining excellent cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall appearance. The role assists with training new cashiers and cross-training associates, and helps lead peers through collaboration and influence. It supports store goals for sales, guest experience, loyalty, and credit while ensuring cashiering procedures and compliance standards are followed. The Lead Cashier also supports leadership with register opening and closing functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat-ins and chat-outs. The position centers on providing personalized guest service, promoting Ulta Beauty products, services, loyalty programs, and credit, and maintaining guest-ready cashwrap displays and supplies. The Lead Cashier works with store leaders and associates to support sales, training, store operations, cleanliness, inventory control, and loss prevention. A flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. The role must be held by an associate who is at least 18 years old.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
Two years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
Proven ability to delegate, multitask, and problem-solve.
Knowledge of and passion for guest service, with competency in selling.
Experience addressing guest concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
Demonstrated experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
Proficiency with basic technology, including point-of-sale systems and Apple devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and remain flexible and adaptable.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty and credit, and retail shrink.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, recommend products and services, and courteously process sales, refunds, and exchanges.
Connect guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events that contribute to guest experience and sales goals.
Replenish, organize, and maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance and contribute to an inclusive environment.
Complete cashier chat-ins and chat-outs and associate exit inspections as needed.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and share relevant knowledge with guests.
Promote the loyalty program, credit, and Ulta Beauty app, and encourage associates to support loyalty goals.
Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering.
Engage and influence peers, support cashier accountability, and participate in ongoing training.
Collaborate with managers and associates throughout the store to help grow the business.
Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code.
Ensure transactions are completed and cash and media are controlled according to company procedures.
Complete register opening and closing functions as directed by the manager on duty.
Maintain cleanliness and store standards at the cashwrap, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break area.
Protect company assets and minimize loss by following safety, inventory-control, and loss-prevention procedures.
Perform other operational tasks as directed.
