About The Position

The Lead Cashier is responsible for efficient guest transactions and maintaining clean, organized, guest-ready cashwrap standards. The role supports sales, guest experience, and loyalty goals, including credit, while helping train new cashiers and cross-train associates. The Lead Cashier collaborates with and influences peers and supports the leadership team with register opening and closing functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat-ins and chat-outs. The role delivers personalized guest service, promotes Ulta Beauty’s loyalty program and app, supports appointments and in-store events, and maintains cashwrap displays and supplies. It also helps uphold company policies, operating procedures, store cleanliness, safety, inventory control, and loss-prevention standards. The position requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may not be held by a minor; associates must be at least 18 years old.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
Two years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, preferred.
Proven ability to delegate, multitask, and problem-solve.
Knowledge of and passion for guest service and competency in selling.
Experience promptly and professionally addressing guest concerns and questions.
Demonstrated experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
Proficiency with basic technology, such as point-of-sale systems and Apple devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to react under pressure, exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and remain flexible and adaptable.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be at least 18 years old; the role cannot be held by a minor.

Responsibilities

Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, omnichannel performance, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, recommend products and services, and handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
Connect guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events.
Replenish, organize, and maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Support the leadership team with cashier chat-ins and chat-outs and associate exit inspections as needed.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and their ingredients and benefits.
Explain the loyalty program, credit, and Ulta Beauty app to guests; encourage associates and support individual and store goals.
Assist with training new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering.
Engage and influence peers to support productivity and performance, and drive accountability for personalized service and following system prompts.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training and collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code.
Complete transactions and control cash and media at the cashwrap according to company procedures.
Complete selected register opening and closing functions as directed by the manager on duty.
Maintain cleanliness and standards throughout the store, including the cashwrap, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break area.
Protect company assets and minimize loss by following workplace safety, inventory control, and loss-prevention procedures.
Perform other operational tasks as directed.
