About The Position

The Lead Cashier is responsible for efficient guest transactions and maintaining cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and appearance. The role supports cashier training and associate cross-training, leads and influences peers, and helps drive sales, guest experience, loyalty, and compliance. The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register opening and closing functions, cashier chat-ins and chat-outs, and associate exit inspections. The position focuses on delivering exceptional guest experiences, promoting the Ulta Beauty Loyalty Life Cycle, and achieving store goals. The role works across performance, people, and processes: supporting sales and loyalty results, providing personalized guest service, maintaining cashwrap displays and supplies, training and developing associates, and following company operating procedures and compliance standards. Lead Cashiers also help maintain store cleanliness, protect company assets, and perform other operational duties as directed.

Requirements

High school diploma is preferred.
Two years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is preferred.
Proven ability to delegate, multitask, and solve problems.
Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for guest service, with competency in selling.
Experience addressing guest concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
Demonstrated experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
Proficiency with basic technology, such as point-of-sale systems and Apple devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible and adaptable.
Must be at least 18 years old; the Lead Cashier role cannot be held by a minor.
Must work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, omnichannel, guest loyalty including credit, and retail shrink.
Provide exceptional guest service by greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending products or services.
Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
Connect guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events.
Replenish, organize, and maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
Support an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
Complete cashier chat-ins and chat-outs and associate exit inspections as needed.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and their ingredients and benefits.
Promote the guest loyalty program, credit, and Ulta Beauty app, and encourage associates to meet loyalty goals.
Assist with training new cashiers and cross-training associates in cashiering.
Lead and influence peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
Promote cashier accountability for personalized guest experiences and use of company systems prompts.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training.
Collaborate with managers and associates throughout the store to help grow the business.
Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, standards, and dress code.
Ensure transactions are completed and cash and media are controlled according to company procedures.
Complete register opening and closing functions as directed by the manager on duty.
Maintain cleanliness and store standards throughout the cashwrap, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break area.
Protect company assets and minimize loss by following safety, inventory-control, and loss-prevention procedures.
Perform other operational tasks as directed.
