About The Position

This role serves as a bridge between craftsmen and management, aiming to maximize output and manage daily operations. The Lead Carpenter will oversee prefab production workflows from drawings to finished assemblies and play a key role in long-term planning and overall operational success. The position involves working collectively to improve shop/workflow systems, processes, and policies, and actively communicating and collaborating with all team members. A shop-led production mindset is preferred over site-led problem solving. The ideal candidate will be a leader who creates constructive work environments through positive energy and teamwork. This role will also assist with the development of schedules with the project management team to meet milestones and completion dates, and requires the individual to be highly organized with all facets of their daily activities.

Requirements

  • Background in project and people planning, as well as shop management
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills in varied settings
  • Minimum 4-year experience in Carpentry and/or Timber Framing, including affiliated certifications (red seal, journeyperson, or international equivalents)
  • Shop Lead, Crew Management or Foreman level experience
  • A full range of skill from all facets of residential and commercial construction
  • Experience with mentoring junior carpenters
  • Strong communication skills with teammates, clientele and consultants
  • Experience with shop production
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity or aptitude with CAD and computer skills
