About The Position

The Carpenter performs daily tasks given by Superintendent or Project Manager (in the absence of superintendent) for the successful completion of project. The Carpenter is responsible for executing precise framing, installation, and finish work on commercial construction projects in accordance with project specifications, building codes, and safety standards. This role ensures structural integrity, layout accuracy, and quality craftsmanship while supporting overall project timelines and site operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of wood working/carpentry and general remodeling, five (5) years preferred.
  • Detail oriented, effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Reliable, Responsible, and be able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel based on work assignments.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to maintain consistently positive attitude and outlook.
  • Ability to work additional hours to meet business demands.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to read computer screens, email and talk on the phone.
  • Ability to use hands to, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift one hundred (100) pounds. Regularly required to lift/move twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • In Company trucks for extended periods of time, and ability to travel.
  • Exposed to potentially hazardous weather conditions on the road.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions; mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret commercial construction drawings and specifications to accurately lay out structural and finish work.
  • Perform metal and wood stud framing for walls, ceilings, soffits, shafts, and fire-rated assemblies per code and project standards.
  • Assemble and install roof trusses, floor joists, equipment platforms, mezzanines, and structural decking.
  • Construct detailed mock-ups to reflect architectural and structural intent.
  • Install commercial doors, windows, hardware, trim, wood blocking, access panels, and specialty finishes.
  • Utilize Procore for documentation, task tracking, and checklist management.
  • Execute precise layout using theodolites and rotating lasers; verify alignment and elevations.
  • Build and inspect scaffolding and temporary work platforms in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Perform UL-compliant firestopping at penetrations, joints, and rated assemblies.
  • Conduct basic material takeoffs and support procurement of construction supplies.
  • Reference building codes and project inspection requirements; follow jobsite operational checklists.
  • Mix and place concrete; build and strip commercial-grade formwork.
  • Patch and repair drywall, plaster, and surface finishes in preparation for inspections or turnover.
  • Maintain toolbelt and ensure all tools are on hand and in working condition.
  • Uphold all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized commercial jobsite.
  • Exhibit professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to company culture and ongoing development.
  • Support project timelines and perform other duties as assigned by site leadership.
