About The Position

The Lead Associate- Shipping is primarily responsible for manually transporting products, pallets, cages, and other items for shipping; processing required paperwork; and conducting cooler inventory. The role works under minimal supervision and must comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The associate also directs and trains other associates as needed, including serving as a point of contact for task-related questions when a supervisor or superintendent is absent and has given direction. The stated regular shift is Monday through Friday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, though shift times may vary. Occasional Saturday and Sunday work is required. The job posting lists pay rates by employment tenure, ranging from $23.70 for entry through four years of employment to $24.70 for 20 or more years.

Requirements

One year of shipping experience.
Demonstrated leadership abilities.
Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
Ability to work in hot, wet, and/or cold environments, including conditions of 45°F (4°C).
Ability to stand for up to eight hours.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Ability to work around noise exceeding 85 decibels, CO2, moving production lines and equipment, wet and dusty conditions, live animals, and odors.
Ability to roll and push buggies weighing approximately 1,000 pounds.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Transport products using hand carts, pallet jacks, and similar equipment while following safety protocols.
Ensure products are labeled, stacked, and wrapped correctly for shipping.
Scan and track pallets from production to the cooler.
Verify and process required paperwork, including Bills of Lading, receivers to purchasing, truck logs and sheets, and production sheets for the next shift.
Verify and record cooler inventory counts accurately.
Direct the work of others and act as a go-to for task-performance questions and concerns in the absence of a supervisor or superintendent, at their direction.
Train lower-level associates as needed.
Comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs, and wear required personal protective equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
