About The Position

The Shipping Lead coordinates with the Converting Manager and scheduling to meet customer-committed ship dates. The role leads and coaches the shipping department, provides technical guidance and training, and helps improve employee productivity and relations. It oversees employee schedules and performance, enforces plant policies and procedures, and monitors department and plant metrics. The Shipping Lead also verifies orders and shipment weights, sets shipping priorities and methods, maintains warehouse organization and inventory accuracy, and directs other shippers on duty. Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Converting Manager and scheduling to meet customer-committed ship dates.
Develop and coach the shipping department and ensure effective employee relations.
Provide leadership, technical guidance, and training to facility employees to increase productivity.
Verify that target deadlines, dates, and parameters are achieved.
Initiate clear communication within all levels of the organization.
Develop, approve, and monitor employee schedules within the Shipping Department.
Evaluate employees’ work levels and review work performance.
Enforce plant policies and procedures and take disciplinary action as needed.
Identify, monitor, and report department-specific and plant-wide metrics.
Verify and check orders against ballots.
Ensure shipment weights are correct.
Determine shipping priorities and methods required to meet schedules.
Place orders that are not being shipped in the appropriate inventory location.
Conduct monthly finished goods inventory.
Supervise and direct tasks of other shippers on duty.
Assist with assembling orders and releasing them from inventory.
Maintain organization within the warehouse.
Resolve inventory issues as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
