About The Position

The Shipping Lead coordinates shipping operations to meet customer-committed ship dates, working with the Converting Manager and scheduling. The role provides leadership, technical guidance, and training to shipping employees; supports employee development and effective employee relations; and oversees schedules, performance, and adherence to plant policies and procedures.

The Shipping Lead also oversees order verification, shipment weights, shipping priorities and methods, inventory placement and releases, finished goods inventory, and warehouse organization. The role monitors department and plant metrics, communicates across organizational levels, and may resolve inventory issues. Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Converting Manager and scheduling to meet customer-committed ship dates.
• Develop and coach the shipping department and support effective employee relations.
• Provide leadership, technical guidance, and training to facility employees to improve productivity.
• Verify that target deadlines, dates, and parameters are achieved.
• Communicate clearly within all levels of the organization.
• Develop, approve, and monitor employee schedules within the Shipping Department.
• Evaluate employee workloads and review work performance.
• Enforce plant policies and procedures and take disciplinary action as needed.
• Identify, monitor, and report department-specific and plant-wide metrics.
• Verify and check orders against ballots.
• Ensure shipment weights are correct.
• Determine shipping priorities and methods needed to meet schedules.
• Place orders that are not being shipped in the correct inventory location.
• Conduct monthly finished goods inventory.
• Supervise and direct other shippers on duty.
• Assist with assembling orders and releasing them from inventory.
• Maintain warehouse organization.
• Resolve inventory issues as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
