About The Position

This position will be responsible for servicing laboratory instruments and equipment by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and managing related projects. Duties include but are not limited to performing and logging major and minor troubleshooting on LC-MS/MS instruments, making solutions such as QCs, calibrators, buffers, and external standard stock solutions, running and quantitating calibration curves, approving QCs daily, performing method validation on LC-MS/MS instruments, managing method validation logs and solutions within the lab freezer and refrigerator, setting up, cleaning, and maintaining laboratory equipment, staying current on lab standard operating procedures, identifying and resolving quality control issues, following all safety procedures and maintaining safety equipment, assessing potential problems that may arise in performance of testing and initiating appropriate action, adhering to the laboratory's quality control policies, and periodically assessing procedures and identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance. The role also involves participating in regular in-service training and appropriate education on laboratory safety and testing procedures, and performing, analyzing, and documenting all proficiency testing data produced by LC-MS/MS in the same manner as patient samples. Additionally, the position performs data analysis, capturing patient results into report templates and checking templates, patient demographics, and results for errors and inconsistencies. It also monitors data collection, checking and ensuring data integrity to produce reports that explain and summarize findings, manipulates potentially hazardous human specimens/samples and analytic reagents in a safe and responsible manner, and provides consultation regarding the appropriateness of testing ordered and the interpretation of test results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, toxicology, clinical chemistry, or a relatable life science.
  • Previous lab experience including review of analytical data and Quality Control
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practical applications of chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, microbiology, molecular biology, and/or related laboratory specialties.
  • Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate written and verbal scientific and clinical information.
  • Good organizational, communication, strong computer database and laboratory or clinical specimen management skills.
  • Ability to perform basic data analysis and peer review to the capacity of at least 75 reports per day.

Nice To Haves

  • toxicology experience in a laboratory performing prescription drug monitoring or in a SAMHSA certified Laboratory is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and logs major and minor troubleshooting on LC-MS/MS instruments.
  • Makes solutions such as QCs, calibrators, buffers, and external standard stock solutions.
  • Runs and quantitates calibration curves.
  • Approves QCs daily.
  • Performs method validation on LC-MS/MS instruments.
  • Manages the method validation logs.
  • Manages the solutions within the lab freezer and refrigerator.
  • Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Remains current on lab standard operating procedures.
  • Identifies and resolves quality control issues.
  • Follows all safety procedures and maintains safety equipment.
  • Assesses potential problems that may arise in performance of testing and initiates appropriate action, as may be required.
  • Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, and periodically assesses procedures and identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance.

Benefits

  • 40 hours per week, ranging between 4x 10 hours / 5x 8 hours shifts, adjusted as needed.
