About The Position

TRULAND Equipment is hiring a Lawn and Garden Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain customer- and dealer-owned lawn and garden and outdoor power equipment. The technician works independently and may receive direction or guidance from the Location Service Management team. The role includes servicing John Deere equipment and other brands sold at the dealership, and may include competitive equipment. The technician is expected to maintain equipment and work areas, follow safety procedures, document work and materials, and remain current on product knowledge through training. The position may also involve supporting customer clinics and mentoring apprentices and students when requested.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
At least 1 year of experience performing service repairs.
Ability to perform repairs and maintenance with special tools and equipment while following Technical Manual procedures, with limited re-work or customer dissatisfaction.
Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used to repair agriculture and turf equipment.
Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Basic computer-function experience.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
Adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities required.
Driving record that meets the employer’s insurance company requirements.
Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate may be required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
Experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
Forklift license preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere lawn and garden equipment and other brands sold at the dealership; may also diagnose and repair competitive equipment.
Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment needed for job responsibilities.
Participate in John Deere University and dealer-led training to develop skills and knowledge.
Conduct or support customer clinics.
Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Mentor Service Technician Apprentices and Students as requested.
Maintain the condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
Keep the work area clean and perform work neatly and orderly.
Follow safety rules and regulations while performing assignments.
Remain accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
Track all materials used in assigned duties.
Complete reports and forms related to work assignments in a timely manner.
Perform other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
