The Superior Court of Massachusetts seeks up to six entry-level attorneys with less than two years of post-law-school experience for its Law Fellowship Program. Fellows assist Superior Court justices with legal research and writing on matters arising from the court’s broad civil and criminal jurisdiction, as well as court procedure. They work alongside permanent Research Attorneys and may gain experience that could serve as a pathway to a permanent Research Attorney position. The fellowship is a one-year term running through the end of August 2028, with the possibility of a second-year term. The anticipated start date is August 30, 2027, subject to candidate availability. Fellows may be based primarily in Boston, Springfield, Woburn, Fall River, or another Superior Courthouse location, depending in part on their preferences. They must be willing and able to travel to other courthouses in the Commonwealth. Hybrid office/remote arrangements are available subject to Trial Court conditions and requirements; new fellows typically begin full-time in person. Work is performed under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Justice, Associate Justices, and Deputy Legal Counsel - Research Services. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school by the start of the fellowship and maintain Massachusetts residency for its entire duration. The salary range is $81,858.66 to $102,281.40, with starting pay of $81,858.66.
